Storing Garden Tools Over Winter

With winter’s arrival it is best to clean and store garden tools correctly.

It is important now that we prepare our tools and machines for next year’s gardening. It is also quite important to prepare them for winter but this can often be time consuming and a passing thought. Now it is time to take action as it will pay for itself otherwise you could be left frustrated if your garden tools and machinery does not perform to the best of its abilities.

You should start by cleaning and sharpening blades, tighten up screws, replace broken parts and generally try to keep your equipment in good shape ready for next year.

Winter Proof Your Tools

Bigger machinery such as lawn mowers and any other petrol-fuelled equipment should be drained of any petrol or used until the petrol is removed. This will also be a good time for you to change the oil on 4 stroke machines.  You should also take the time to check if any oil filters or spark plugs need replacing now to avoid deterioration before next spring.
